Jesus exhorted His disciples to
Have the faith of God. This is such
an amazing statement that most translations of the Bible put this as, Have faith in God. But that is
not what the origonal Greek text records as the words from the lips of the man from Galilee. It is however
crystal clear from the context that this is what Jesus expects of His disciples, which includes us! That being the
case we need to find out what the faith of God is, how to get it and how to use it. In our quest we will
have to look at what Jesus said, rather than continue with the traditions of men. To this end lets read Jesus' teaching on the faith
of God and how it differs from natural sense knowledge faith.
And Jesus answering saith unto them,
Have faith in God. (literal Greek, have the faith of God). For verily I say
unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart,
but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. Therefore I say unto you, What
things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. And when ye stand praying, forgive,
if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.Mark 11:22-25
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do;
because I go unto my Father.John 14:12
If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.
Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.John 15:7
And Jesus looking upon them saith,
With men is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible.
Jesus saith unto him,
Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.John 20:29
And Jesus said unto them,
Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain,
Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.Matthew 17:20
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.Hebrews 11:1
NOW FAITH is the assurance (the confirmation, the title deed) of the things (we) hope for, being the proof of things (we) do not see and the conviction of their reality (faith perceiving as real fact what is not revealed to the senses). Hebrews 11:1 AMPC
Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.Hebrews 11:3
In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. Genesis 1:1-3
But without faith it is impossible to please Him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.Hebrews 11:6
So faith comes by hearing what is told, and what is heard comes by the preaching of the message that came from the lips of Christ the Messiah Himself.Romans 10:17 AMPC
Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.Hebrews 12:2
The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest
come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed...
When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed,
Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not
in Israel... And Jesus said unto the centurion,
Go thy way; and as thou hast believed, so be it done unto thee. And
his servant was healed in the selfsame hour.Matthew 8:8,13
And, behold, a woman, which was diseased with an issue of blood twelve years, came behind him, and touched the hem of his garment:...But Jesus
turned him about, and when he saw her, he said,
Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole. And the
woman was made whole from that hour. Matthew 9:20,22
And they came to Jericho: and as he went out of Jericho with his disciples and a great number of people, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat
by the highway side begging. And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say, Jesus, thou son of David, have mercy on
me. And many charged him that he should hold his peace: but he cried the more a great deal, Thou son of David, have mercy on me. And Jesus stood
still, and commanded him to be called. And they call the blind man, saying unto him, Be of good comfort, rise; he calleth thee. And he, casting away
his garment, rose, and came to Jesus. And Jesus answered and said unto him,
What wilt thou that I should do unto thee?
The blind man said unto him, Lord, that I might receive my sight. And Jesus said unto him,
Go thy way; thy faith hath
made thee whole. And immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus in the way. Mark 10:46-52
For a certain woman, whose young daughter had an unclean spirit, heard of him, and came and fell at his feet: The woman was a Greek, a Syrophenician by nation;
and she besought him that he would cast forth the devil out of her daughter. But Jesus said unto her,
Let the children first be filled:
for it is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it unto the dogs. And she answered and said unto him, Yes, Lord: yet the dogs under the table eat
of the children's crumbs. And he said unto her,
For this saying go thy way; the devil is gone out of thy daughter. And when she was come to her house,
she found the devil gone out, and her daughter laid upon the bed.Mark 7:25-30
Now Peter and John went up together into the temple at the hour of prayer, being the ninth hour. And a certain man lame from his mother's womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms of them that entered into the temple; Who seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple asked an alms. And Peter, fastening his eyes upon him with John, said, Look on us. And he gave heed unto them, expecting to receive something of them. Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk. And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ancle bones received strength. And he leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God. Acts 3:1-8
And there sat a certain man at Lystra, impotent in his feet, being a cripple from his mother's womb, who never had walked: The same heard Paul speak: who stedfastly beholding him, and perceiving that he had faith to be healed, Said with a loud voice, Stand upright on thy feet. And he leaped and walked. Acts 14:8-10
In each of the above examples people manifest varying degrees of faith in God, from the Centurion of whom Jesus said He had not seen such great faith, to the Lame Begger at the temple gate who expected to receive something, but probably relied mainly on the faith of Peter and John.
Reading these scriptures we see the loving heart of the Father displayed in Jesus who was clearly willing people to operate in faith, so that they could receive all that God had for them. For Jesus said with God all things are possible, by speaking God's words we can operate in the faith of God. The faith of God is the type of faith that speaks and the sees the product of those words. Faith comes from hearing the words of Jesus and filling your heart with them. This is important because without faith it is impossible to do the things that please God. The faith of God is available to anyone, it comes from hearing the words that Jesus said. The God king of faith is believing you receive something before you see it. It is not natural human faith the believes what it can see and touch with physical senses. Jesus did not applaud that kind of 'faith' unbelief.
Faith is put into action by believing in your heart and speaking it out through your mouth. Faith release the power of God Through faith you receive all of Gods blessings.
According to Jesus, people were healed by His faith or the faith of the individual, or a combination of the two. See this in this complete set of Gospel accounts of all the individuals who were healed by Jesus, click here
